What is PreRouted?

PreRouted is a travel app that finds cheap, adventurous travel deals! PreRouted:

1. Shows you the best deals currently available from 150+ cities
2. Introduces a new way to travel - Cheaper-via routes - and allows you to search for them!

Cheaper-via routes

Go to a 2nd city, explore it for a day (or more) before continuing to your original destination, often saving £100s and getting to explore some fantastic intermediate locations in the process!

With cheaper-via search, you can tell Prerouted where and/or when you want to go to a destination and the app will hunt down the cheapest route for you, be that the direct route or (usually) an alternative where you can get there cheaper via a 2nd adventure!

Note:

No layover flights are shown on PreRouted. The point is to find enjoyable routes to save money and explore new places, and layovers aren't fun. Each step is a single direct journey.

Deal finder

Prerouted scours direct return routes in order to find you the best deals at the moment. At any time there are usually some surprising deals available if you know when and where to look. We find them for you and display them all on the website, updating the deals regularly. All direct-deals displayed are at least 2/3rds off the regular price for that route!

Won't all the cheap deals you show have horrible layovers?

No! For now, Prerouted is only displaying routes with direct flights between the locations displayed. The idea of Prerouted journeys is to help people travel more, have more adventures, and spend less in the process. The idea of a 20-hour connecting flight is not the kind of adventure we are hoping you'll find!

Is cheaper-via different to a layover?

Yes! Very different. You can often find cheaper tickets with journeys that have multiple legs requiring you to change planes at some middle destination with a layover - this is NOT what Prerouted journeys are. With layover journeys, you do not leave the airport and have to wait in the terminal, often in rather uncomfortable conditions for extended periods of time. This tends to make your journey feel a lot longer and more tiring than a direct flight or cheaper-via route. With cheaper-via routes, the intention is to visit a new location and save money - you leave the airport, spend a day (or more) at your intermediate destination, exploring a new city/beach/culture, and after resting some nights in local hotels or b&bs, and tasting the local cuisine, continue on to your final destination.

Do cheaper-via routes always go via somewhere else first?

No! Cheaper-via routes displayed will go to your inputted destination and extra destination in whatever order saves you the most money! Routes will also be displayed with varying lengths of stay in both the inputted and extra destination, again with the best cost saving routes appearing first. It may be that for a particular route on particular dates, it is cheaper to go to your inputted destination first and then travel back via an extra destination for three days; or cheaper to go to an extra destination for one day before heading onto the inputted destination.

Why can't I search from my location?

At the moment the search feature has only been activated for a small subset of locations. We would love to hear your feedback if there is a particular location you would like to be able to search cheaper-via routes from! Give feedback here.

Why can't I search for longer/shorter trips?

For now the searching ability has only been activated for trips with lengths of five days to two weeks. The concept of cheaper-via travel is to find more adventurous and enjoyable trips at a better cost. Back to back flights does not usually constitute an enjoyable experience, so the shortest trip we are initially allowing is five days. If you would find trips outside this range useful to be able to search, please let us know! Give feedback here.

What does "Prerouted" mean?

Routes are set in advance, so they are pre-routed, but also the cheaper-via routes can be thought of as an intentional re-routing of a direct journey. "Prerouted" combines these two concepts.
